No. 15 Trojans roll, 81-55
CEDAR RAPIDS - The No. 15 NIACC women's basketball team rolled to a 81-55 victory over Bryant & Stratton Friday night on day one of the Kirkwood Classic at Johnson Hall on the Kirkwood campus.
NIACC (5-0 overall) led 20-17 after the first quarter and outscored Bryant & Stratton 22-6 in the second quarter to take a 42-23 lead at the half.
Freshman Ella Mullenbach led the Trojans with a career-high 20 points off the bench, including six 3-point goals. Mullenbach also had a career-best three assists and three steals in Friday's non-league win.
NIACC sophomore Reggi Spotts scored 14 points with five assists, three rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot. Sophomore Grace Berding scored nine points for the Trojans.
NIACC's Ciara Seifert scored six points and collected a team-high 12 rebounds. It was Seifert's second straight contest with double figure rebounds as she grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds against Williston State College on Nov. 9.
NIACC's Peyton Meincke, who scored six points, also reached double figures with a career-best 10 rebounds. She also matched her career-best with three assists and collected a career-best three steals.
NIACC returns to action Saturday at the Kirkwood Classic. The Trojans face the Mount Mercy University Junior Varsity at 1 p.m.
The Trojans open ICCAC play at home on Nov. 22 against Marshalltown CC.
