BOONE - The No. 9 NIACC women's basketball team dropped a 68-38 decision to DMACC Wednesday night in an ICCAC contest.
DMACC (20-6 overall, 12-6 in the ICCAC), led 13-8 after the first quarter and outscored the Trojans 20-4 in the second frame to take a 33-12 lead at the half. Chloe Costello led the Bears, who have won seven straight games, with 24 points and Whitney Jensen scored 14 points.
NIACC (21-3, 15-3) was led by freshman Zaria Falls with 16 points and sophomore Reggi Spotts scored 13 points. Spotts now has 879 career points, which ranks 12th on the school's career scoring list.
NIACC freshman forward Ciara Seifert grabbed 11 rebounds. It was the 16th time this season that Seifert has reached double figures in rebounds and her fifth straight contest.
Seifert now has 269 rebounds this season, which ranks eighth on the school's all-time single-season rebounding list.
NIACC, which had won 11 straight games before Wednesday, returns to action Saturday at home against Central CC-Columbus (8-18, 4-14). Game time in the NIACC gym is slated for 1 p.m.
