IOWA FALLS - The No. 13 NIACC women's basketball team topped Ellsworth 71-57 on Thursday in an ICCAC contest.
NIACC (17-2 overall, 7-2 in the ICCAC) led 14-6 after the first quarter and outscored the Panthers 26-19 in the second quarter to take a 40-25 lead at the half.
Sophomore Reggi Spotts led the Trojans with 19 points. Spotts also had nine rebounds, four steals and three assists.
Freshman Ella Stoskopf was next in line for the Trojans with a career-high 16 points, including her first two three-pointers of her career. It was Stoskopf's first career game scoring in double figures.
NIACC freshman Peyton Meincke scored 12 points with four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Freshman Zaria Falls scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds.
NIACC freshman Tillie Smith scored six points with a career-best five assists.
Yaiza Soriano Balaguer led Ellsworth (8-10, 4-8) with a game-high 22 points.
NIACC, which has won seven straight games, returns to action Saturday at No. 5 Kirkwood (17-2, 11-1). Game time in Cedar Rapids is slated for noon.
