NIACC's Spotts earns ICCAC weekly honor

MASON CITY - For the second time this season and third time in her career, NIACC sophomore guard Reggi Spotts has been selected as the ICCAC Division II women's basketball player of the week.
Spotts, who prepped at Mason City High, was selected as the league's top player for the week of Dec. 15-21. Spotts shared the weekly award with Iowa Central's Trista Olhmeier.
Spotts also won the award this season for the week of Nov. 3-9. Last season, she won the award for the week of Dec. 9-15, 2024.
Earlier this season, NIACC freshman Ciara Seifert won the league's weekly award for the week of Nov. 17-23.
Last week, Spotts scored led the Trojans with 26 points, including four three-point goals, in a 60-59 come-from-behind win over Marshalltown CC on Dec. 17 in Marshalltown. Spotts also had six rebounds, two assists, two steals and one blocked shot.
It was the fourth time this season that Spotts has scored at least 20 points in a game. Spotts' season and career high was 29 points against Lake Region State College on Nov. 8.
Spotts is the only player in NIACC women's basketball history with 600 points (674), 70 3-point goals (74), 275 rebounds (282), 100 assists (110) and 130 steals (133).
On NIACC's career lists, Spotts is 27th in scoring, tied for 25th in 3-point goals, 37th in rebounding, tied for 41st in assists and tied for 19th in steals.
This season, Spotts is averaging 17.8 points per game, which ranks fourth in the ICCAC, with 26 3-point goals (fifth in ICCAC). She is averaging 5.2 rebounds per game (19th in ICCAC) with 38 assists (tied for eighth in ICCAC) and 39 steals (tied for fifth in ICCAC).
No. 15 NIACC (11-2 overall, 5-2 in the ICCAC) returns to action Jan. 3 in an ICCAC contest at Central CC-Columbus (5-9, 1-5) in Columbus, Neb. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
NIACC returns home on Jan. 7 against No. 13 DMACC (13-1, 5-1) in a league contest. Game time in the NIACC gym is slated for 5:30 p.m.
