No. 14 Trojans stop Tritons, 76-69
FORT DODGE - The No. 14 NIACC women's basketball team topped Iowa Central 76-69 Wednesday in an ICCAC contest at Hodges Fieldhouse.
Freshman Zaria Falls led the Trojans with a career-high 19 points and six rebounds. Falls' previous career high was 17 points against Marshalltown CC on Nov. 22.
it was Falls' fifth straight game scoring in double figures.
Also for the Trojans, freshman Peyton Meincke scored 14 points with seven rebounds and sophomore Reggi Spotts scored 13 points with four rebounds, four assists and three steals.
NIACC's Allie Zittel scored eight points with a steal and Machaela Trask scored six points with three assists.
NIACC, which has won five straight contests, improved its record to 15-2 overall and 9-2 in the ICCAC.
NIACC led 21-14 after the first quarter and led 35-27 at the half. The Trojans outscored the Tritons 21-15 in the third quarter to stretch their lead to 56-42.
NIACC returns to action Saturday at home against No. 24 Northeast CC. Game time in the NIACC gym is slated for 1 p.m.
