No. 9 Trojans roll past Raiders, 86-61
MASON CITY - The No. 9 NIACC women's basketball team cruised to a 86-61 victory over Central CC-Columbus Saturday afternoon in an ICCAC contest in the NIACC gym.
NIACC (22-3 overall, 16-3 in the ICCAC) led 31-14 after the first quarter and pushed its lead to 52-27 lead at the half.
Sophomore guard Reggi Spotts led the Trojans with 17 points. Spotts also had nine assists, four rebounds and two steals.
Freshman Ciara Seifert scored 15 points and collected a game-high 13 rebounds. It was the 17th time this season that Seifert has reached double figures in rebounds and her sixth straight contest.
It was Seifert's 13th double/double of the season and her second against Central CC-Columbus. Seifert also recorded a double/double (26 points/14 rebounds) against the Raiders on Jan. 3 in a 109-58 victory.
Also Saturday for the Trojans, freshman Zaria Falls scored 11 points with four rebounds, three steals and one assist.
NIACC's Machaela Trask scored nine points, including three 3-point goals in the first half. Freshman Peyton Meincke scored eight points with six assists and five rebounds.
NIACC's Tillie Smith scored seven points with three assists and two steals. Ella Stoskopf scored seven points and collected seven rebounds.
Central CC-Columbus (8-19, 4-15) was led by Delaney Reeg and Lexi Fiscus with 16 points, apiece.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday at Iowa Lakes (19-7, 15-4). Game time in Estherville is slated for 5:30 p.m.
