No. 15 Trojans roll past Central CC
COLUMBUS, Neb. - The No. 15 NIACC women's basketball team cruised to a 109-58 victory over Central CC-Columbus Saturday in an ICCAC contest.
NIACC (12-2 overall, 6-2 in the ICCAC) led 35-9 after the first quarter. The Trojans also outscored Central CC-Columbus 32-17 in the third quarter and 25-14 in the final stanza.
It was the third time this season that the Trojans have scored at least 100 points. They also reached the 100-point plateau in a 101-36 win over Blackhawk Technical College on Oct. 31 and routed the Mount Mercy University Junior Varsity 100-34 on Nov. 15.
The 109 points by the Trojans was the most in a league game since they topped Iowa Lakes 109-84 on Dec. 4, 2024.
Freshman Ciara Seifert led the Trojans with a career-high 26 points and 14 rebounds. It was Seifert's sixth double/double of the season.
It was also the fourth straight game that Seifert collected at least 10 rebounds. She also had 11 against Marshalltown CC, 15 against Iowa Lakes and 12 against Ellsworth.
Also Saturday for the Trojans, sophomore Reggi Spotts scored 18 points with five steals, four rebounds and two assists. Freshman Zaria Falls scored 10 points with six rebounds, four steals and one assist.
NIACC's Taylor Hemann scored 12 points and grabbed four rebounds. The Trojans' Grace Berding scored nine points and Kelsey McDonough scored seven points.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday at home against DMACC. Game time in the NIACC gym is slated for 5:30 p.m.
