No. 12 Trojans fall to No. 25 Lakers, 63-57
MASON CITY - The No. 12 NIACC women's basketball team dropped a 63-57 decision to No. 25 Saturday afternoon in an ICCAC contest in the NIACC gym.
Iowa Lakes (9-3 overall, 5-0 in the ICCAC) led 32-17 at the half and opened a 22-point lead at one point in the third quarter.
NIACC outscored the Lakers 25-15 in the fourth quarter to trim the final deficit to six points.
Iowa Lakes was led by Tavara Swonger with 15 points. Erica Welsh was also in double figures for the Lakers with 10 points.
NIACC (10-2, 4-2) was led by sophomore guard Reggi Spotts with a game-high 16 points, including three three-point goals. Spotts also had four steals, three rebounds and two assists.
Also for the Trojans, freshman Ciara Seifert scored 10 points with a game-high 15 rebounds. It was Seifert's fifth double/double of the season.
NIACC freshman Zaria Falls scored eight points with six rebounds, four steals and an assist. Freshman Machaela Trask scored eight points, including two three-point goals.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday in an ICCAC contest at Marshalltown CC. Game time in Marshalltown is slated for 5:30 p.m.
NIACC topped Marshalltown CC 65-43 on Nov. 22 in Mason City.
