No. 9 Trojans stop Reivers, 68-60
MASON CITY - The No. 9 NIACC women's basketball team topped Iowa Western 68-60 Saturday afternoon in an ICCAC contest in the NIACc gym.
Freshman forward Ciara Seifert scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Trojans, who improved to 21-2 overall and 15-2 in the ICCAC. it was Seifert's 12th double/double of the season.
Also for the Trojans, sophomore guard Reggi Spotts scored 14 points with five rebounds, three assists and two steals. The Trojans' freshman Zaria Falls scored eight points and Peyton Meincke and Ella Stoskopf both scored seven points.
NIACC trailed 26-23 after the first quarter, but the Trojans outscored the Reivers 16-8 in the second quarter to take a 39-34 lead at the half.
NIACC, which has won 11 straight games, outscored the Reivers 29-26 in the second half to claim the 8-point home victory and completed the regular season sweep of the Reivers. NIACC topped Iowa Western 66-58 on Dec. 6 in Council Bluffs.
Iowa Western was led by Kaity Driskell with 15 points. The Reivers' Reagan Palmer scored 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Savanah Appel scored 12 points.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday in an ICCAC contest at DMACC. Game time in Boone is slated for 5:30 p.m.
