NIACC's Spotts earns ICCAC player of week honor
- Spotts earns league's player of week award for 4th time in career
- Trojans host Southeastern CC Wednesday
MASON CITY - Another week, another honor.
For the fourth straight week, a NIACC women's basketball player has been honored as the ICCAC player of the week.
NIACC sophomore guard Reggi Spotts was selected as the league's player of the week for the week of Jan. 19-25. The three previous weeks the award went to NIACC freshman Ciara Seifert.
It is the third time this season that Spotts has been honored with the league's top player award as she also was selected for the week of Nov. 3-9 and Dec. 15-21.
It is the fourth time in her career that Spotts has won the award. As a freshman, Spotts was selected as the league's player of the week for the week of Dec. 9-15, 2024.
Last week, Spotts was instrumental in the No. 9 Trojans picking up two crucial league road wins against Ellsworth and No. 7 Kirkwood.
Against Ellsworth, Spotts collected her first double/double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds. She also collected three steals and dished out two assists.
Against Kirkwood, Spotts matched her career high with 29 points, including a 11 of 14 performance from the free-throw line. Spotts also grabbed six rebounds as the Trojans snapped Kirkwood's impressive 85-game home winning streak with a 71-66 overtime victory.
Spotts now has 799 career points (15th on NIACC's all-time scoring list) and 158 career steals (12th on NIACC's all-time steals list).
NIACC (18-2 overall, 12-2 in the ICCAC) returns to action Wednesday at home against Southeastern CC. The Trojans also play at No. 22 Northeast CC (14-5, 9-4).
